Roanoke Rapids police are still trying to determine motive behind an early morning shooting where two people were injured and treated and release.
The police department is looking for Clarence Lee Burgess, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, who faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a weapon within the city limits.
Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement Burgess is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Investigation began shortly before 3:45 this morning when Master Officer Roy Ball and Officer Ariel Burgess responded to a shots fired call on Wilkins Street.
There they learned two people were shot, one in the arm and one in the shoulder.
A probe by investigators Frankie Griffin and Jeff Davis developed Burgess as the alleged suspect. He also has three outstanding orders for his arrest.
