The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Two arrested for vehicle B&E

On June 12, Investigator Chris Babb arrested and charged Terrick Anthony Hyman, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, for breaking and entering a vehicle, larceny and conspiracy.

The following day, Officer Jeffrey Mason arrested Solomon Emmanuel Bryant, 17, of Roanoke Rapids, on the same charges.

The charges stem from an investigation by Babb on May 28 when the victim parked in front of T.J. Davis Recreation Center to walk the track.

While walking, the victim's car was broken into and valuables were removed.

Investigation led Babb to Hyman and Bryant.

June 12

Around 9:45 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a call in the 1000 block of Henry Street about a person walking in the roadway covered in blood.

Smith learned the victim was assaulted by Dennis Wade Newton Jr., 41, of Roanoke Rapids.

Sergeant Daniel Jenkins and Officer Chris Biggerstaff located Newton and detained him pending Smith's investigation.

Smith arrested and charged Newton with assault inflicting serious injury. Hasty said it was unclear what prompted the physical assault.

Newton had several outstanding orders for his arrest from Halifax for possession of marijuana and Northampton for communicating threats and assault on a government official.

Newton was given a $22,000 bond and an August 8 court date.

June 13

Around 8:30 p.m., Lieutenant Perry Parks conducted a traffic stop at East Tenth and Hamilton Streets.

Parks arrested Earnest Kendell Mayo, 29, of Garysburg, for an outstanding order for arrest from Halifax County for driving while license revoked.

Parks also charged Mayo for driving while license revoked and possession of open container.

 

Mayo was given a $3,500 bond and July 17 court date.
