A 22-year-old Roanoke Rapids man surrendered to law enforcement Monday to face charges in an August assault case.
Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Justin Keith Medlin went to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and was served warrants for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The charges stem from a baseball bat attack that occurred on Lion Lane in the Scotland Neck area where the victim was beaten multiple times in the head, face and legs. The assault was reportedly sparked by a dispute over a woman, Wiltsie said.
Medlin was jailed on $25,000 bond. He has a March 25 court date.
