The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is looking for a man who on August 9 reportedly trailed a woman at Food Lion and stole her credit card from her purse.

Detective Frankie Griffin said the crime occurred at the Food Lion on Julian Allsbrook Highway.

The man used the card twice, making purchases worth $80 for beer and gas. The man left the store on a burgundy car.

The victim had her purse in the shopping cart and when she was looking at grocery items the man stole the credit card.

Griffin advises it is best to keep your purse on you. If you put it in a shopping cart, keep the purse closed. “If you keep it closed it will make it harder for them.
