A Roanoke Rapids man is wanted in a shooting that occurred on Carter Street around 8:30 Tuesday night.

Detective Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said investigators have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Kevin Lee-Andre Davis, 27, for a count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The victim was shot multiple times with a handgun in the upper body and lower extremities. The victim was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then to an undisclosed medical facility where he was listed in stable condition.

The shooting took place outside, but Martin declined to say whether it was at close range. He also declined to disclose the caliber of weapon, although he did say investigators retrieved shell casings from the scene.

At this point a motive in the shooting has not been established, Martin said. It has also not been determined whether Davis frequents any other areas beyond Roanoke Rapids.
