A car that was partially in a ditch off Highway 158 led to the service of an outstanding warrant and marijuana charges for a Roanoke Rapids man Sunday morning.

Deputy Eric Johnson of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office cited Aljeir A. Green, 35, for the outstanding order for arrest, according to a statement by Major Scott Hall as well as a citation for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson stopped on Highway 158 near Lupine Road for a vehicle that was partially in the ditch.

After identifying the vehicle's owner as Green, Johnson learned the man had an outstanding warrant.

Johnson took Green into custody and reportedly located a small bag of marijuana in the vehicle.

Green received a $500 secured bond and August 13 court date.

It was not clear why the car was in the ditch.
