Two Whitakers men are being sought in a May 1 home invasion that occurred in the Enfield area.

Avery, left, and Battle

Detective J.M. Clark of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said felony arrest warrants have been obtained for Malcolm Battle, 37 and Steven Avery, 29.

The face charges of felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The two men allegedly forced their way into the home of the victim, brandishing a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

As the two men were leaving, one of them reportedly fired the handgun into the residence. Clark said it is possible the shots were fired as a way to make sure the victim stayed inside until they left.

The warrants were forwarded to Nash County for service and the two men have not been arrested at this time. They are considered armed and dangerous.

Clark said when the men are in Halifax County they tend to frequent the Medoc area.
