An observant citizen is being credited for thwarting a possible robbery at Bobby's on Bolling Road Thursday night.

The events transpired around 10 p.m. when Roanoke Rapids police say a resident standing outside the store noticed two people described as black males gearing up and covering their faces.

When the two men went inside the store, the resident who had been watching them ran in behind them. The two men ran out of the store as soon as the man watching them followed them in.

The men fled out of the store on foot, the resident chasing them until he couldn't see them anymore. They were last seen around Ninth Street between Cleveland and Wilson streets.

The resident observed one of the men remove a gray T-shirt as he ran, revealing a white shirt.

Both men stood between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. They weighed approximately 140 pounds.

One man had short black hair and wore a black shirt and dark shorts. The other wore a gray shirt and black pants with black and white sneakers.
