A frozen position within the Roanoke Rapids Public Library will mean a change in hours at the facility beginning Monday, City Manager Joseph Scherer confirmed.
Scherer said this afternoon, “We froze a vacant position at the library for budgetary purposes.”
Scherer told council at its meeting Tuesday administration has “expressed to departments (they) still need to watch unnecessary spending. Small things add up in addition to regulatory and administrative expenditures.”
In a statement, Head Librarian Jeff Watson said beginning Monday the library will be open to the public Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday and Saturday the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “In order to use public access computers, patrons must stop at the service desk and be assigned a computer at least 30 minutes prior to closing time.”
