A campaign that targeted compliance among sex offenders last week throughout Halifax County has now netted arrests, four for allegedly using social networking sites, according to the sheriff's office.

According to Major Scott Hall, deputies Jessica Sampson and Travis Clark worked Wednesday and Thursday following up on the campaign.

On Wednesday they arrested Reginald Rendell Webb, 33, of Weldon, for violations of conditions of his registry. He was charged with use of social networking and failing to inform changes to online identifiers.

Webb was arrested in the Halifax County Detention Center while incarcerated on an unrelated charge. He awaits a January 8 court date.

On Thursday the deputies arrested George Lewis Hubbard at his Roanoke Rapids residence. He was also charged with use of a social networking website and fail to inform online identifiers.

Sampson and Clark also Thursday arrested Murray Gene Moore, 60, from his Roanoke Rapids residence for violations pertaining to his sex offender registry. He faces the same charges as Hubbard and Webb and was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond with a January 8 court date pending.

Meanwhile Thursday, the sheriff's office arrested an Enfield man with assistance from the Enfield Police Department, which stopped Travon Lamont Fox, 29.

Officers learned Fox, who was stopped for a traffic violation, had pending charges related to his status as a sex offender.

He faces the same charges as the previous men and was jailed on $20,000 bond. It was unclear why Fox's bond was higher than the other's charged.

Finally on Thursday, Deputy Josh Langley stopped Tyler Antonio Lynch, 23, of Hollister, for a traffic violation and learned he had pending charges related to his sex offender registry. He was taken into custody and charged with failing to a report a change of address. He was also jailed on $20,000 bond and has a January 8 court date.

Hall said in a statement the charge of failure to inform changes to online identifiers arises when offenders fail to report new or edited email, usernames or other online user accounts.

Sheriff Wes Tripp said the enforcement will continue. “The sheriff’s office is committed to and will continue to work sex offenders aggressively. “
