Lopez or Morales

A woman thrown from a vehicle Wednesday morning was treated and released but the Halifax County Sheriff's Office continues to look for her estranged boyfriend in a possible domestic related kidnapping.

Sheriff Wes Tripp said this evening investigators are not sure where the woman's boyfriend, Angel Lopez, and two other unidentified Hispanic males may be heading.

Be on the lookout notifications have been dispatched and his name has been entered into state and national criminal databases.

In a statement, Tripp said around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday the sheriff's office received a report of a possible domestic kidnapping. Tripp said this evening the kidnapping was apparently the result of an argument between the two.

The victim was found on Interstate 95 just inside the Nash County line and was taken to Nash General Hospital were she was treated and released.

Through an interpreter it was learned she was taken from her residence in the Enfield area allegedly by Lopez and two other men.

Deputy Robert Wade learned the victim was thrown from a vehicle on the southbound lane of the interstate.

A passing motorist found the victim on the side of the road and called the Nash County Sheriff's Office.

Followup investigation by Lieutenant Rich Somogyi through the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office in Florida identified Lopez, 20, and that he uses an alias of Miguel Angel Morales, reportedly 21-years-old.

Warrants have been obtained for his arrest for kidnapping and assault on a female.

Lopez works in the area as a laborer and his whereabouts are unknown. He and the other men may be traveling in a blue van.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-1991 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
