A 12-year-old and 14-year-old have been charged following a spray-paint tagging spree in May.

Roanoke Rapids police received a report on May 22 about vandalism in the 800 block of Park Avenue where a fence, truck, street signs and storage structure were spray-painted.

Ten street signs were sprayed with red paint and a city-owned truck was sprayed with the initials TTG. The roadway between Virginia and Halifax streets was also tagged with the initials TTG.

Detective Frankie Griffin collected a spray paint can as evidence and he and juvenile detective Corey Dixon began an investigation, which resulted in the arrests of two boys from the west side of Roanoke Rapids for damage to property.

The boys are being processed through the juvenile court system and police don’t know what TTG means. Total damage was around $2,000.
