As the anniversary of Crystal Bell’s June 24 murder approaches, family and friends will hold a candlelight vigil Sunday.

The event will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery at 6 p.m. It will be held by footstone near the cemetery office.

This will be the second vigil for Bell and the first since Governor Pat McCrory’s office offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to information and the conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Bell was found shot to death on June 24 of last year.

The governor’s office typically posts rewards in cases that have been difficult to solve.

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has said it will explore information released in a report broadcast on WRAL that allegedly ties the murder of Bell to a Halifax County man.

That report, through inspection of public records, allegedly ties Dennis Carter of Enfield to not only Bell’s murder but also that of a Warren County woman and her son.

The report alleges Carter profited from multiple deaths and suspicious fires across the state in past eight years.

That includes a fire that occurred almost two years ago in Halifax County.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-534-2611, Northampton County Crimestoppers at 252-534-1110 or the State Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-334-3000.
