A three-month surveillance after receiving drug complaints led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for a Weldon man and the seizure of 64 grams of marijuana today, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Narcotics Lieutenant Anzell Harris said around 1:30 p.m. narcotics agents, with the assistance of the Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Elm Street in Weldon.
Harris said this evening the sheriff’s office began receiving complaints about three months ago and surveillance of the residence has been going on for that long.
The search warrant led to the seizure of 64 grams of marijuana and two handguns, a shotgun and rifle. Drug paraphernalia was also seized.
Harris obtained a warrant for the arrest of 36-year-old Otis Junior Rooks on charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
Harris said he would check Friday morning to determine if any of the weapons were stolen.
