Family: I am divorced and I have two adult children and three grandchildren. I have a son employed by the NC State Highway Patrol and a daughter that is employed in the medical field.

Associate Degree in Police Science.

Current occupation and years of experience: Retired 30 years full time and Currently Auxiliary Police Officer with Roanoke Rapids and Scotland Neck Police Departments.
Why do you want to be sheriff?
I realize how much I enjoyed interacting and helping people all through the years and found that I miss serving. I now would like the opportunity to serve again and improve service to the citizens of Halifax County.
If you are not appointed sheriff by the board of commissioners will you still file to run?
If not appointed by the commissioners, I will assess my situation and make a decision before the filing date.
Knowing this position is only to fill an unexpired term, do you envision making any immediate changes in personnel and administration or do you leave things as they are until after the primary or general election? Please elaborate.
If appointed, I don’t plan to make wholesale changes, however after evaluating the department, if it is determined change of any kind will improve the efficiency of the Sheriff’s Office, I will not hesitate to make necessary changes.
What are your goals and objectives in this position?
My goal is to be proactive in my efforts to reduce crime through utilizing all resources available. I will involve all agencies and citizens in the process.
