A former lieutenant with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said he will apply not only to be appointed to the fill the unexpired term of Jeff Frazier but will also file to run for sheriff.

Chuck Hasty, who is a school resource officer in the Northampton County school system, said he is completing his letter of intent to County Manager Tony Brown.

Hasty, who also works part-time with the Weldon Police Department, joins Wes Tripp, Mark Macon and James Warren as interested candidates.
