Three Gaston men and one from Roanoke Rapids have been indicted federally in robberies of a Garysburg area convenience store.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said the men — Javarrae Rook, Jarmise Rook and Juwan Allen, all of Gaston, and Derrick Harvey of Roanoke Rapids were indicted in July and warrants for their arrest were issued on July 24.

The local investigations were conducted by Jacobs and Lieutenant A. Roye, Jacobs said, and were then bound to the federal court system.

In count one, the federal indictment charges on or about April 27 of last year Javarre Rook, Allen and Harvey by force and violence, and by intimidation, robbed New Dixie Mart on Highway 46 in Garysburg by means of actual and threatened force.

Count two charges on or about May 4 of last year Javarrae Rook by force and violence, and by intimidation, did unlawfully obstruct, delay, and affect, and attempt to obstruct, delay and affect, robbery of the store by using actual and threatened force.

In count three the federal grand jury charges Javarrae and Jarmise Rook by robbery on May 8 of last year took and obtained personal property from the store.

On Friday Allen appeared appeared before Magistrate Judge Kimberly A. Swank and was held in custody pending his third party custodian signing order, according to court records. The court found the person named in the order is no longer a suitable custodian and will revisit the issue during a bond review hearing Tuesday in Greenville.

Harvey and Javarrae Rook will have their detention hearings Tuesday in Greenville.

The arraignments for Javarre Rook, Harvey and Allen have been tentatively scheduled for October 15 in New Bern.

Federal court records have not yet listed the schedule for Jarmise Rook.

Indecent liberties count

Jacobs also reported on Wednesday Deputy C. Boden located and served an outstanding warrant on 34-year-old Jeffrey Timberlake II of Jackson for one count of indecent liberties with a child.

He received a $15,000 secured bond and has an October 3 court date scheduled.

Investigation began on June 17, Jacobs said in a statement.

“Anyone with information or who are victims of sexual crimes involving children or themselves please report the same to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency,” Sheriff Jack Smith said. “Our agency takes cases of this magnitude very serious. We will investigate it to the fullest extent and when it’s obvious that there is a violation of law charges will be obtained.”
