A charge in December was apparently not enough to keep a Lincoln Heights woman from allegedly selling marijuana and crack from her home on Luke Street.
Today drug agents, detectives and deputies served another search warrant at the home of Melody Lavonne “Mel” Sledge following continued complaints of drug activity at the residence.
“Basically it’s just a disregard for the law because she was charged previously and continued in the narcotics trade after being charged previously and we’re still getting complaints,” Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said.
Martin said in a press release during the search evidence of drug use and drug sales was discovered.
Deputy Jason Keeter and his dog Brody, Detective Sergeant Herbert Williams, Agent Cody Dickens, Deputy Christopher Boden and Agent Anzell Harris participated in the search.
The search warrant stemmed from citizen complaints in the Luke Street area, as well as follow-up investigations by narcotics agents.
Sledge, 41, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle, place or dwelling for keeping a controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Martin agents found both marijuana and crack cocaine at the residence.
Sledge was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a June 5 court date.
