A Roanoke Rapids businessman who is expected to appear in court today was arrested Friday for allegedly stalking the victim in that case.
Tony Linwood Martin Jr. was charged with misdemeanor stalking and released on $750 secured bond, Roanoke Rapids police said this morning.
Martin is expected to appear in court for a charge of obtaining property by false pretense in a case where he allegedly exploited the trust of an elderly woman.
Shortly after 10:30 Friday morning Martin allegedly followed the victim, 75, out of a business and took pictures of her, police said.
It is not known whether Martin followed the victim to the business or they just happened to be in the same place at the same time but police say investigation by Detective Sergeant J.W. Baggett and Detective J.A. Taylor shows he allegedly followed her out of the business.
Police don’t know why he allegedly took pictures of the victim.
Martin has a May 1 court date on this charge.
