A mother-daughter dispute this morning led to a stabbing on Poplar Street.
Major Tommy Hathaway of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said officers responded to 128 Poplar Street following a call and learned Deidra Anderton, 22, allegedly stabbed her 51-year-old mother in the forehead and chest.
The victim was treated at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Hathaway declined to go into specifics, saying only the stabbing was fueled by the dispute, which occurred shortly after 5:30 this morning.
Officer J.A. Salmon located Anderton walking on Wilkins Street and recovered the weapon, a knife, allegedly used.
Officer T.W. Massey charged Anderton with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
She was jailed on $100,000 bond and has a February 6 court date.
