American Water Resources of North Carolina has solicited citizens of Roanoke Rapids and possibly other towns for their Water Line Protection Program through a U.S. Mail notice of responsibility.
The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District has not been contacted regarding the use of its name in the notice and has not authorized the use of its name in the notice, RRSD CEO Dan Brown said in a press release.
As the American Water Resources of North Carolina has not requested any information from the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District, the district should not be considered an “information source” as indicated in the notice.
“The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District provides public water service to users up to its meters at the property of the users and American Water Resources of North Carolina apparently deals with maintenance of private water lines situated on property of users. These are entirely separate services,” Brown said.
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department posted on its Facebook page that it has been fielding calls on a company that has been soliciting local water customers. “This company is not affiliated with our local sanitary district,” the post said. “American Water Resources of North Carolina is a warranty company that sells a warranty on your home water lines and pipes that are on your property. We suggest that you read carefully and research any such company.”
