The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the whereabouts of Shawn Cornelius Alston who was reported missing by his mother on October 19.

Alston lives in the Warner Bridger Road area of Garysburg near the Virginia line and had been with friends that same evening, according to Detective Lieutenant Brenda Burnette.

Friends said they last saw the 39-year-old man around 11:30 that evening and it appeared he was walking home.

No one has seen him since, Burnette said and he has been entered into databases as a missing person. Virginia authorities have also been notified.

A state Highway Patrol swept the area looking for him with no success.

“We don’t suspect foul play,” Burnette said. “We want to know where he’s at. The family is offering a reward.”

Deputy William James initially responded to the call and Detective Sergeant Courtney Williams is the lead investigator.

Alston was last seen wearing a black shirt and khaki cargo pants. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs between 190 to 210 pounds.

He has no known medical or mental issues other than asthma.
