Follow-up on drug complaints in an area of Weldon called The Strip netted Halifax County Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents 84 grams of marijuana today.

Agents J. Puhak and A. Harris, along with Lieutenant Scott Hall, were at the area of Fifth and Eleventh streets after receiving several drug complaints, according to Hall.

Puhak said in a press release the agents approached two males and found probable cause to do a vehicle search.

Hall said the agents found marijuana in the vehicle and charged Derrick Lamont Shearin, 31, of Weldon.

Hall said the second person was not charged.

Shearin faces charges of felony possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a January 2 court date.
