A man already charged on firearms charges faces more counts in an unrelated case and several more people have been charged, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective R. Somogyi said the sheriff’s office received a report of a residential breaking and entering that occurred in the Scotland Neck area on September 5.
The suspects allegedly kicked in the back door to the residence and took several firearms.
Somogyi said in a press release he learned several of the firearms were suspected of being at a residence in Elm City.
With the assistance of detectives Ross Ellis and J.J. Phillips of the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, Somogyi recovered several of the firearms taken in the breaking and entering.
He also learned a firearm was also taken from another residence in Scotland Neck.
Further investigation by Somogyi revealed Jennifer Summerlin, 26, of Scotland Neck contacted the victim of the original breaking and entering and lured him away from his residence.
While the victim was with Summerlin, three people allegedly entered the victim’s residence.

Those allegedly committing the breaking and entering were Marcus Shane Watkins, 25, of Scotland Neck, William Aaron Riddick, 18, of Scotland Neck, and Cameron Matthew Bales, 17, of Elm City.
On Wednesday Somogyi obtained arrest warrants for Summerlin, charging her with accessory before the fact and Watkins, charging him with breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Riddick and Bales were charged with breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
On Thursday Lieutenant Neil Aycock and Major Mike Casey of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Riddick on the warrants.
Detective Jack Sprulle of the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bales in Elm City. Watkins and Summerlin were arrested at the Halifax County Jail. Watkins was in custody on other unrelated firearm theft charges.
Summerlin was placed into the Halifax County Jail under a $1,000 bond. Watkins, Riddick, and Bales were placed into the Halifax County Jail under $10,000 bonds.
All four have October17 court dates and additional charges are pending in this investigation.
“This Case could not have been solved without the assistance of the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and the Scotland Neck Police Department,” Somogyi said.
