A request for a cell phone tower, scheduled for revisiting tonight, was pulled from city council’s meeting agenda.
Councilwoman Suetta Scarbrough made the motion to pull the matter. The motion passed by a 3-2 margin, with Carl Ferebee and Greg Lawson voting against the measure.
Scarbrough said following the meeting she made the motion to pull the matter because she wanted to have more information on cell phone towers than she currently has. “I don’t feel like I’ve got enough information to make a good decision.”
She said the decision to make the motion had nothing to with another matter the city is addressing with David King, owner of the former Roanoke No. 2 textile mill.
Ferebee said he voted against the motion because he felt it should have been addressed.
Asked if he thought the letter and spirit of quasi-judicial hearings were met at the last public hearing, Ferebee, said, “Actually, no. That’s why it was back on the agenda.”
The matter will be placed on the October meeting agenda.
