Rochelle Pond has exceeded its capacity and we are experiencing major flooding across the city, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
The police department discourages anyone from traveling. However, in an emergency, take precautions, and seek shelter.
We have been advised the effects of the storm will be mitigated within the next two hours.
A shelter has been set up at T.J. Davis Recreation Center.
