The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has received information about a scam against the elderly.

Detective Rich Somogyi is investigating several incidents where an unidentified male has made contact with elderly citizens of Halifax County claiming to be part of a government program to assist the them with home improvements.

The unidentified male claims the main office is located in Roanoke Rapids.

The unidentified male asks to come into the residence to take measurements and asks the victim to assist.

The unidentified male then distracts the victim and takes items from the residence.

No other information is available at this time.

Detective Somogyi encourages citizens who are contacted in this manner or are concerned about suspicious persons at their residence to call local law enforcement before allowing anyone into your residence.
