A Northwest Halifax High School basketball coach has been charged with three counts of indecent liberties with students.

Detective Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the case allegedly involves Erick Tyson Williams, 28, asking three students who were not on the basketball team to engage in sexual misconduct.

Rooks declined to go into specifics and declined to say whether the acts took place on the campus.

Williams, from the Halifax area, was arrested Thursday after an investigation that was launched when the three male students, around the age of 16, reported it to authorities in February.

Williams was jailed on $3,000 bond and has a May 2 court date.
