A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Wednesday with allegedly firing shots at a woman in the 200 block of Monroe Street.

The woman, who was outside, was not struck.

Roanoke Rapids Police received the call shortly after 3 p.m. and arrested Marqueese Rashown Mason, 25, of Madison Street.

He was jailed without the opportunity for bond on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of discharging a weapon into occupied property, assault on a female an discharging a weapon in the city limits.

Captain Andy Jackson said it was not clear if this was a boyfriend and girlfriend situation.
