Roanoke Rapids Police Department Detectives spent time in the 100 block of Roanoke Avenue today passing out flyers seeking information on a Tuesday morning shooting.

Captain Andy Jackson said investigators still have no idea whether it was an intentional shooting or someone possibly misfired a gun. “We don’t know because of the time of night and the lack of traffic.”

A 61-year-old man staying at Phillips Service Center at 100 Roanoke Avenue was struck when he went to the side of the building to use the bathroom around 2:15 a.m.

The man is in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital. “We believe he will pull through,” Jackson said.
