An Enfield man with fugitive warrants from two states has been jailed on $1,087,000 bond after he was charged Tuesday with allegedly stealing a check from his former employer and cashing it at a bank in Rocky Mount.
Detective Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Jonathan Jerrod Solomon has a past history of this kind of crime and is wanted by two different states for the same thing.
Solomon, 40, allegedly stole the blank check and wrote it to himself for $2,700. He cashed it at a bank in Rocky Mount.
Arrested by deputies J. Keeter and R. Wade, Rooks charged Solomon with identity theft, obtain property by false pretense, forgery of an endorsement, uttering a forged endorsement and larceny.
Charges against him in the other jurisdictions include three counts of obtaining property by false pretense, three counts of forgery of endorsement, three counts of uttering a forged instrument, two counts of financial fraud, one count of larceny, one order for arrest, and two fugitive warrants.
Rooks said Solomon was in a position of trust with his former employer.
He has a February 28 court date.
