An Enfield man was arrested Saturday on metal theft charges after the Halifax County Sheriff's Office received a suspicious vehicle call.

Detective Rich Somogyi said the call was received around 6:45 a.m. in the Highway 301 area of Enfield.

Lieutenant Neil Aycock saw a white Camry at the rear of the house with the trunk lid up and copper piping in the yard.

The crawl space entrance was open and Deputy J. Keeter and his dog Brody were able to locate more evidence in a wooded area across the street.

Further investigation by Somogyi resulted in the arrest of Raylon Devon Parker of Enfield. He was charged with breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and injury to real property.

Parker was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a February 8 court date.

The Whitakers Police Department assisted in the investigation.
