A man and woman were charged Thursday night after they allegedly beat a guest they invited to their Hinson Street home.
Lincoln Michael Stanley, 33, and Joann Stanley, 26, both face charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and attempted common law robbery.
The victim, according to Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, said the Stanleys invited him over on the pretense they were going to hang out and he had been there on prior occasions.
Arriving at the house he was asked if he wanted to buy any household appliances, to which he replied he did not.
The victim told police Mr. Stanley then allegedly attempted “to pimp his wife out, asking for money.”
The man declined the offer and when he attempted to leave he was struck in the back of the head with what he believed to be a lamp. He fell to the floor and both allegedly began punching the victim, who fought back and got away, heading to his vehicle, which was parked on Franklin Street.
As he was walking, Sergeant Mike Moseley found him and called EMS for treatment of visible wounds.
Mr. Stanley was jailed on $10,000 bond and his wife on $5,000 bond. They have January 4 court dates.
