One home invasion suspect was shot and later died Wednesay night in Littleton.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff's said in a news release that shortly after 8:15 deputies responded to the area of Short Street on a home invasion call.

While responding deputies were notified that shots had been fired and one suspect was still in the house.

Deputy Corey Griffin arrived and discovered the suspect who had been shot was not responding and another was being detained by the home owner. Two others fled on foot.

Griffin took Kayman Northington into custody and charged him with first degree burglary, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and carry a concealed weapon.

He was jailed on $200,000 bond and has a February 1 court date.

The suspect who was shot was later pronounced dead and the sheriff's office is seeking information on the identify of the people who fled.

The name of the suspect who died was not released in the initial press release.
