A 17-year-old boy is wanted for allegedly shooting his stepfather Saturday night.
Detective Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Deshawn Moore is wanted for three counts of assault with a deadly with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and three counts of assault by pointing the gun.
The three counts reflect other people were in the house off Carolina Rest Home Road in the Roanoke Rapids area when the shooting occurred.
Investigators and deputies arrived after 11 p.m. and learned Moore and his stepfather were involved in an argument when Moore allegedly got a gun from his room and shot the man twice in the stomach.
Moore fled the house and investigators continue their search for him. Rooks said the stepfather, who is in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital, was shot with a small caliber weapon.
