The North Carolina Highway Patrol has four unsolved fatal hit and run collisions it continues to investigate, according to a press release from Sergeant M.P. Galleo.
These fatal hit and run crashes occurred in Halifax and Northampton counties, the most recent being one on March 26 in which Sheila Brinson was struck and killed on Branch Avenue in the Lincoln Heights community outside Roanoke Rapids.
Brinson was walking west in the eastbound lane of the road when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck her and then left the scene.
Sergeant R.E. Dudley told rrspin.com this morning the case has been turned over to the State Bureau of Investigation. “We can't locate the car. We have a suspect but we haven't been able to locate the car.”
Dudley said it is not clear whether the collision was intentional and added it could have involved an impaired driver.

The cars could be 1992 through 1994 models of the Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria. The collision occurred shortly before 1:30 that morning.
