The woman charged as an accessory after the fact in the shooting of Roanoke Rapids police officer John Taylor in November will be sent back to Pennsylvania to face charges there.

Halifax County District Attorney Melissa Pelfrey this morning said Rene Michele Phillips waived extradition in court Wednesday.

In Pennsylvania she faces charges of stealing her mother's car and was served warrants while in the Halifax County Jail for allegedly skipping a court date and violating terms of her probation.

Phillips, 43, was engaged to Michael Eugene Edgerton, 38, who was driving a stolen car from Pennsylvania which had a gun in it, a gun he used to shoot Taylor, who had stopped him near the 172 mile marker of Interstate 95 for following too closely.

On the following day Edgerton turned a gun on himself, ending his life as law enforcement zeroed in on him in the woods near Halifax Academy .
