Planning and Development Director Amanda Jarratt presented a proposed budget to council today which contained no surprises.
One of the biggest items she presented was a request for $20,000 in the upcoming fiscal year in capital outlay to begin a revision of the city's comprehensive plan, which has been recommended to be spread out over two fiscal years.
"I can't explain to you how important long term planning is," she said during today's budget work session. "It's important to have a full picture instead of a five page planning policy."
Jarratt said the city can work with the Council on Government to get help with revising the document. The total cost for revising the city's plan will be $40,000, she said, which can be spread out over the next two fiscal years.
Jarratt also recommended a fee be set for providing temporary power to construction sites. The recommended fee is $35. "This is the only one," she said of recommended fees for the upcoming fiscal year.
