A Garysburg woman was charged with attempted second degree murder following a domestic dispute involving a relative, according to Roanoke Rapids Police.
Captain Andy Jackson said Officer Terrence Tyler responded to Fairfield Apartments off Highway 125 around 6 p.m. Monday after receiving a shooting call.

He found the victim was not injured but was shot at, allegedly by 40-year-old Twana Ponton, of 209 Monroe Street.
The alleged shooting attempt was caused by a family domestic situation, Jackson said.
Ponton also faces two counts of assault on a government official and two counts of resist a public officer. She also faces a count each of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.
She was jailed on $250,000 bond and has a June 1 court date.
