A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested this morning on several drug counts following an investigation into a separate crime.
Nicolas Blair Shearin, 31, of 7 East Tenth Street, faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of schedule IV and possession of marijuana.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Shearin was charged by Detective Jeff Baggett, who was assisted by detectives Charles Vaught and Frankie Griffin.
The schedule IV charge reflects the officers found pills, although it was not immediately clear what kind of pills they were.
Jackson declined to comment on the case the detectives were investigating when the drugs were allegedly found.
No bond or court information was immediately available.
