One person has been arrested and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for another allegedly involved in a local school break-in.

Investigation by Detective Joe Sealey and Lieutenant Bobby Martin led to the arrest Tuesday of 24-year-old Shermartia Devette Simmons of Roanoke Rapids.
Simmons faces charges of two counts breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny, two counts of possession of stolen goods, one count obtaining property by false pretense and two counts injury to real property.
The charges are related to the break-in and theft of property from a local school, which was not identified in the news release.
The sheriff’s office continues to look for Joseph Anthony Boone Jr. of Roanoke Rapids.
The 42-year-old Boone faces similar charges.
Meanwhile, Simmons was also charged with a possession of stolen property in the case of a stolen dirt bike from Chesapeake, Virginia, in which Timothy Daniel Harris was charged earlier this week.
Simmons was jailed on $30,000 bond and has a May 18 court date.
Anyone with information on Boone is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
