Weldon town commissioners honored the memory of the late Dock Brown with a resolution tonight.
Mayor Julia Meacham presented the resolution to Brown’s son, Dock Brown Jr.
“He loved Weldon so much,” the younger Brown said of his father, who died January 25. “He loved everyone in Weldon. This has been tough. He would be so happy right now.”
The resolution says Brown, “Was a valued and beloved resident of the town of Weldon.”
He served as Weldon commissioner for 12 years, the document notes, “With pride, dedication and distinction and faithfully served the citizens of the town of Weldon by his active participation in church and civic affairs.”
A one term member of the state house, Brown had the Weldon Post Office named after him. “We, the mayor and board of commissioners, on behalf of all the citizens of Weldon who benefitted by his service, wish to express to his family the sincere and heartfelt loss experienced by his passing and further wish to assure his family that his presence here will always be remembered.”

Meacham swears in Gregory and Sampson.
In another matter tonight, Meacham swore in new Weldon police officers Erzn Gregory and Jessica Sampson.
