A Roanoke Rapids woman who allegedly tried to hit her ex-boyfriend’s car head on Monday but struck the front quarter panel was arrested Wednesday night on several counts.

The charges against Nikkitta Jacobs, 28, stem from a wreck that occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. Monday on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway near the Georgia Avenue intersection.

Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Officer Daniel Hundley observed a black Mitsubishi with extensive damage in a parking lot. The victim, Jacobs’ ex-boyfriend, was trapped in the vehicle and was in and out of consciousness.

The Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad had to extricate the man from the vehicle and he was taken to the hospital.

Hundley learned the car that struck the Mitsubishi was a silver Impala driven by Jacobs and the crash was allegedly intentional.

Officer Rich Somogyi arrested Jacobs Wednesday night and she was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury — a passenger was in the vehicle — one count of felony hit and run, one count of aggressive driving and a domestic violence protective order.

Jackson said after the collision, Jacobs pulled up to the car her ex-boyfriend was in and allegedly said, “‘I told you to quit talking to me like that,’” and drove off.

Because the case is domestic she was jailed without the opportunity for bond.

Jackson said the diagram shows Jacobs allegedly crossed the center line to hit the Mitsubishi head on. The driver apparently jerked the car so that Jacobs’ vehicle struck drivers side quarter panel, totaling the vehicle.
