A Christmas Eve breaking and entering was solved today, leading to the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Corey Griffin investigated the case, which occurred on Reynolds Circle. Rims and tires from the victim’s car were taken and Jeffery Brown, 27, was developed as a suspect. The victim’s car was also scratched up.

Brown became a suspect when Deputy Emerson Carroll was investigating another breaking and entering on Reynolds Circle where items fitting the description of those taken in the December 24 crime were discovered.

Brown lived at this house at one point and was believed to have placed the tires in the home, Martin said.

The work of Griffin and Carroll led Brown to be charged today with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny and one count of possession of stolen goods.

He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a March 22 court date.
