Raymond Garner III, 35, faces one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Garner is wanted for stabbing a Gastonia man following an argument at the restaurant on Premier Boulevard.

George Thomas Evans, 38, of Roanoke Rapids was charged with simple affray and given a $1,000 bond, Captain Andy Jackson said.

Another victim in the fight, Gregory Justice of Kingsport, Tennessee, will also be charged with simple affray, Jackson said.

Jackson said, according to eyewitnesses, Garner stabbed the victim from Gastonia.

Both victims were released from the hospital, Jackson said.

Roanoke Rapids police received the call around 10:45 and discovered a 25-year-old Gastonia man and a 29-year-old man from Kingsport, Tennessee were stabbed with a knife. Jackson declined to release the name of the Gastonia victim.

The men were treated for multiple stab wounds. The men were stabbed around the face, side and arms.

The fight apparently started over gestures made between two people, Jackson said. “Everyone described it as a mutual misunderstanding.”

Garner was the victim of a gunshot wound to the chest in April after he went to a house in the 900 block of Henry Street, where police said then illegal activity occurred.

Garner went to the house with a little money and four men allegedly attempted to rob him.

Anyone with information on Garner’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810, Halifax Central at 252-583-1991 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
