A Garysburg man was arrested Monday for an armed robbery that occurred Sunday at the Family Dollar store in Weldon.
Captain James Avens of the Weldon Police Department said Howard Grady Davis, 57, was charged with armed robbery and communicating threats.
Investigation began shortly before 8:45 p.m. Sunday when Lieutenant Chris Davis and Officer Chris Exum were called to the store on East Second Street.
Security video allegedly showed Davis brandishing a large knife and demanding money from the clerk, Avens said.
The clerk complied and the video shows him allegedly leaving the store with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk was not injured.
An initial search in Garysburg and Weldon did not yield results.
Further investigation and community tips, however, led to Davis' arrest Monday by Garysburg Police Chief Raymond Vaughan and Officer Melvin Garner.
Davis was arrested at his house on Lincoln Street without incident. Continued investigation led Avens to locate a large portion of the money, which was found under a house in Garysburg.
Davis was jailed on a $15,000 secure bond.
