A Roanoke Rapids man was charged Friday for allegedly ripping a victim’s pocket to get his wallet.

The robbery occurred shortly after noon behind the Fifth Street launderette when a person later identified as Tayvon Moody approached the victim and demanded his wallet, according to Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

The victim refused and Moody, 19, of East Seventh Street, allegedly accosted the man and ripped his pocket.

Officer Lee Mason located Moody and he was charged with common law robbery. He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a December 15 court date.
