A Halifax man was arrested today for allegedly stealing plywood from a church construction site on Highway 125.
Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said several complaints have been received of about $2,000 worth of wood being stolen.
Today, however, the sheriff’s office received a call about a vehicle leaving the work site with plywood in the truck bed.
Sergeant Greg Richardson met the vehicle on Highway 125 near Highway 903. Richardson radioed other officers. Martin and Richardson eventually stopped the vehicle which contained the plywood.
The officers arrested Brentin Cordell Williams, 37, and learned he had outstanding warrants from the Weldon Police Department for breaking and entering a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
Detective Joe Sealy charged Williams with felony larceny of the plywood. He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a November 24 court date.
