Officer observation Friday led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Roanoke Rapids man for selling crack cocaine in the parking lot of a local convenience store.

Officer Rich Somogyi was on routine patrol when he observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of Big Al’s.

After investigating, Somogyi charged Tayvon Earl Moody, of 7 East Tenth Street, with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, according to Captain Andy Jackson.

Jackson said Somogyi observed an exchange.

Moody was jailed on $1,500 bond and has a November 10 court date.
