Six KIPP Pride High School students and one Northwest Halifax High School student have been arrested for a fight that occurred at Northwest Friday over a girl.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said all the KIPP students involved were charged by School Resource Officer Daniel Jones with first degree trespassing and simple assault. One Northwest student was charged with simple assault.

According to the report by Jones, the officer confronted a car load of boys that had made their way onto the campus.

The boys were told to leave the area they were in and  go to the proper location.

They advised they were there to pick someone up. The driver did leave this area, but did not obey Officer Jones.

It was shortly after the bell rang for the dismissal of students that Officer Jones noticed a fight taking place. He headed to the area and noticed not all parties were wearing school uniforms.

Officer Jones and teachers started towards the fight and saw several people running away.

Deputies from the sheriff's office arrived to assist.

According to Officer Jones, it appeared to be the same group of boys he had previously told to leave.

Officer Jones said there was a second car, but it was not seen after the boys were told to leave.

The arrests caused KIPP to forfeit its football game Friday night. The boys arrested have October 13 court dates.

Zabriel Johnson, 17, of Roanoke Rapids, a Northwest student.

Elizia Silver, 16, of Littleton.

Erik Rooks, 17, of Gaston.

Michael Price, 17, of Roanoke Rapids.

James Smith, 17, of Gaston.

Zachary Epps, 17, of Gaston.

Antwan Cooper, 17, of Roanoke Rapids. Cooper was arrested by Lieutenant George Evans.
